Hidden on a cul-de-sac in Atherton was a neo-classical house that had the high ceilings and bones of a good structure, but generally lacked architectural detail. The program called for reworking the interiors to provide light and airy spaces for family living, as well as room for furniture and art, and re-detailing the exterior to produce a more elegant facade and general exterior appearance. Most areas of the floor plan were changed to provide in particular a new kitchen/family room configuration, master bedroom, and children's wing. In addition, a large new pool, pool house, and carport were added to the exterior, as well as new hardscape and planting for the entire property. Great care was taken in the selection of materials to produce elegant architectural lines, with subtly different colors and textures. This project was done at the fastest construction pace possible, with double crews, producing a construction schedule of twelve months for the completion of the house and site combined.
