Ivan Dye Jr.

Junior Designer

M.Arch | Rice University
B.Arch | Miami University

An Ohio native, Ivan’s architectural journey has taken him across the US. Graduating with his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Miami University and then later completing his graduate coursework at Rice University, Ivan is now immersed in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was only after beginning his studies in college that he realized he “unknowingly spent [my] childhood weekends playing in iconic buildings designed by SANAA and Frank Gehry in Toledo’s Old West End”. The visceral and subtle influence that architecture has on place-making was realized through his time spent in his hometown

Ivan spent a total of four consecutive summers interning at Thomas Porter Architects in Toledo. His prior work experience also entailed interning in Houston with the Cobalt Office and a fellowship with Rice University, managing the construction of a small ADU. Ivan draws inspiration from Renzo Piano’s “eclectic approach to design and his fascination with the part-to-whole relationship – relating a technological piece to scale of an entire building”. The Menil Collection by Piano is one of Ivan’s favorite buildings. When Ivan is not admiring architecture, he enjoys running, playing tennis and tossing a frisbee.
