Johnny Hartman

Johnny grew up in Reno, Nevada, where early travel and his family's work in the construction industry helped shape his interest in design, art, and the built environment. He earned his degree in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2021, with a minor in Italian Studies, and spent a year studying abroad in Florence, where he further immersed himself in Italian culture, architecture, and design.

Before joining Butler Armsden, Johnny gained experience on a range of residential projects, including ADUs, single-family homes, and the occupied rehabilitation of an apartment complex. He is drawn to residential architecture because he believes homes become deeply connected to the memories, routines, and daily lives of the people who inhabit them. At BAA, he values the opportunity to help create thoughtful, lasting spaces with a strong sense of character and soul.

Johnny enjoys the collaborative nature of design and the chance to work alongside designers, engineers, builders, and artisans to bring ideas to life. Outside the office, he can often be found relaxing at a park, spending a weekend at a lake, dancing at a music festival, or skiing down a mountain.
